I am so close to the date it's really setting in.
I am going to be 30. God that is so painful to say.
I know how many people would think me overreacting is just that, an overreaction.
But I just feel so lacking.
I thought I would be so much more than I am. I guess I'm still a work in progress.
Sad.

Hi Kristi,
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog for your cleanse review and have been reading. I know you don't know me, but I feel compelled to write this.
Stop beating yourself up for being you. You are. Yes, "You are" is a full sentence. So be nice to Kristi and let yourself be. Dieting is hard and unnatural... we're the only animal on earth that does it! So any day you're attempting to make changes, pat yourself on the back.
Also, eat happy foods. Eat bright veggies and fruits and healthy fats. Tapper off processed carbs, even GF ones, and focus on simplicity. I don't know where you live, but find farmer's markets and reconnect to fresh food. Give up Kraft and make your own dressings... I'm sure you'll find you'll save money. Same with the flour mixes, order almond/flax/coconut flours in bulk online and make your own. Pop popcorn on the stove and drizzle it with EVOO and nutritional yeast.
If it comes in a bottle, don't drink it.
Read Mark Bittman and Michael Pollan.
Bake sweet potatoes and eat them with butter and curry powder.
Mash avocados on toast with salt, pepper, and a shake of cayenne.
And drink tea, all kinds.
Season your foods with spices like tumeric, ginger, fennel and five-spice.
Eat lentils with bacon or quinoa with anything.
Ditch the cheese for awhile and switch to non-dairy milks. And if you're eating soy, stop!
Research anti-inflammatory foods.
Switch to low GI-sweeteners and tapper off sugar if you can.
Read about ayurveda and find your dosha.
Get enough sleep.
Have quite time with yourself where you visualize the life you want.
And don't read blogs/websites that make you feel bad!
And if you can, enjoy your last few weeks of 29 without even thinking of 30. Wake on the day of your birthday surprised! 30 is a new chapter. And if you're feeling really adventurous, from 30 on make this blog dedicated to all the things you're thankful for daily. As in, don't even give those negative thoughts room to live on. When a bad thought creeps in, fight to protect Kristi and counteract it with a good thought.
Above all, take baby steps, appreciate yourself and think of everyday as a different and new day that's completely unlike the last.
I so appreciate you!!! I don't know who you are and at the same time I truly and completely appreciate your comments and encouragement. Honestly, I've been feeling a bit like I am beating myself up a lot as well and truly, it's been driving me crazy.
DeleteI hadn't heard of a couple of those things you mentioned and I really am on this crazy journey discovering new things and making my way. Haha actually I'm kind of laughing because I didnt realize anyone had even read the blog. It's sort of my may of making myself accountable.
Thank you for your words.
I appreciate you,
Kristi
